VERO BEACH, Fla. -- Toby R. Strickling, 57, of Vero Beach, Fla., died Thursday, June 14, 2007, at Indian River Medical Center.

He was born May 4, 1950, in Ashland, the son of Donald E. Strickling and Deena Strickling Bahas.

Toby was a 1968 graduate of Ashland High School and attended Ashland University where he ran track. He moved to Vero Beach in 1973. He was the former manager of Charlie Brown’s Restaurant in Vero Beach. He owned and operated Toby’s Oasis and Toby’s Waterway Cafe and most recently Toby’s Pro services.

He is survived by two step-brothers, Tracy (Michelle) Weyant of Vero Beach and David Weyant of Ashland; aunts and uncles, Bill and Dorcas Kroll, Pat Shaw, Howard Strickling, John and Pat Purdy and Joanne and Bob Myers, all of Ashland, and Ruth and Sam Chester of Pennsylvania, numerous cousins and many friends in Ohio and Florida.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father and step-mother, Dee Weyant Strickling.

A memorial service will be 6 p.m. Monday, July 16, 2007, at South Beach, Fla.

Memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Hospice of Indian river county, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, Fla. 32960. Arrangements are under the direction of the Thomas S.
